FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S CORNER
We have arrived to the Fall Season, and this brings new challenges and new events. The Latin Fiesta will be our biggest event of the month. As every year we will have music booths, food, shows, raffles and many more exciting things that will take place. The hours will be from 2 pm to 6 pm and the price of the tickets is: $5 per adult and $3 per child. Come and celebrate this big day with us!
As part of our Hispanic celebration the Kindergarten thru third grade will be having: Cine Hispano, with Dora and the Lost City. The cost will be $3.00 per child, and refreshments will be served.
On Monday, October 14th in celebration of Columbus Day, Sunflowers will celebrate this important date by having the students wearing Hispanic traditional clothes. Also there will be a Columbus Day Dance from 3:15 pm to 5 pm for students from 4th to 8th grades The cost of the entrance will be $5.00.
The Kindergarten students will be having their Educational field trip to Pinto’s Farm on Tuesday, October 15th. It will be a wonderful experience for these young children at this time of the year. They will be leaving a 9 am, and returning at 2pm.
From our Management Team, Mrs. Suarez-Cruz will celebrate her birthday on Wednesday, October 16. We wish her a Happy Birthday, and thank her for the support given to Sunflower’s faculty and personnel.
This month the Actor’s Playhouse will be conducted by Ms. Trujillo, and the Spanish class. It will take place in the school cafeteria, at 1pm. More information will be going out later this month. This will be Friday, October 18th.
Exam week will start Monday, October 21 for 4th thru 8th grades, and will finish on Wednesday, October 25th. Check the Calendar for the courses to be tested each day.
Teacher Planning Day is Friday, October 25th. There will be no classes for K thru 8th. After School will be opened. On that day there will be a workshop for teachers entitled: “Spaces Organized for Learning”.
We feel very enthusiastic about the first Geography Trivia Game that will take place on Monday, October 28th. This first one will be for the Capitals of the American Continent. Be sure to practice with your son/daughter to motivate them to learn through games.
A workshop for parents called: “Keeping Your Child Motivated” is on Tuesday, October 29.More information will be given. Also you can contact Mr. Diaz in the office.
And last in our heavy October calendar we have the Harvest Festival-Pie contest. This should be fun Wait for more news.
